FEURER developed sun visor cores for an automotive refiner and was involved in the project from the outset. The collaboration covered preliminary discussions, prototype parts, initial moulded parts and series production.
When automotive companies develop new models, optimisations are made not only on the main components such as the engine or car body. For more than 25 years; FEURER has been manufacturing sun visor cores. Thanks to its industry and product know-how, FEURER remains the competent development partner for automotive companies worldwide.
In the manufacturing process described here, the EPP core consists of a top and a bottom part. An injection-moulded insert is placed between these half shells, for example with a mirror, lighting and a microswitch. The assembly is then covered with film, fabric or leather. Materials and processing must be coordinated with the requirements for the finished sun visor.
The construction allows the assembly to be dismantled into individual components. Whether and how these can be recovered after use depends on the materials, their separability and the available collection, sorting and recovery routes.
The joint development work also included revisions to ribs and material transitions. This work accompanied development from the initial idea through to series production.
